Description:

Hydrocolloid dressing of Wuhan Huawei Technology Co,. Ltd. consists of a semipermeable polyurethane film or PU foam coated with hydrocolloid containing carboxy-methylcellulose(CMC) as the principal absorbent and gel forming agent. Hydrocolloid dressing is permeable to water vapour but impermeable to exudate and microorganisms. In the presence of exudate , the CMC absorbs liquid and swells to form a cohesive gel that does not tend to disintegrate or leave residues in the wound bed.

Indications:

Hydrocolloid Dressing can be used in the management of low to moderate exuding wounds like venous leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, superficial burns, superficial partial - thickness burns, donor sites, postoperative wounds and skin abrasions. It can also be used to rehydrate necrotic tissue, which is then removed by autolysis.

Other kind of Hydrocolloid dressing called hydrocolloid blister plaster may be used in small wound like skin blisters and corns’ plaster.

Contra-indications:

We recommend that hydrocolloid dressing should not be used on exposed muscle or bone, or applied to patients who are known to be sensitive to one of the ingredients. Our product is not the product of choice for application to very heavily exuding wounds, at least in the initial stages of treatment, as the dressing would require replacing too frequently.

Cautions:

• Make sure the wound area and dry before using dressing.
• Hydrocolloid dressing should be 2cm bigger than the wound area to make sure that dressing could be cover the wound.
• If the depth of wound is more than 5mm, it is better to fill the wound with proper material before using hydrocolloid dressing
• It is not suitable for wounds with heavy exudates.
• When the dressing becomes white and swelling, it indicates that dressing should be changed.
• At the very beginning of using the dressing, wound area maybe enlarged, this is caused by the debridement function of the dressing and it is normal phenomenon.
• The gel will be formed by the mixture of hydrocolloid molecule and exudates. As it looks like purulence secretion, it would be misunderstood as the wound infection. Just clean it with saline.
• There maybe some smell from the dressing sometimes, and this smell could disappear after cleaning the wound with saline water.
• Dressing should be changed at once when leakage occurred around the dressing.
